Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on a straight, extendable arm that is located on a rotating turntable. Typically, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for jobs that need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. Like for instance, workers are able to perform exterior renovations or repairs on buildings of medium height but utilizing these lifts as opposed to having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift bucket generally just holds a single employee. These buckets are more suited to particular tasks such as electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Beneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. Once the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Since these units should be positioned directly beneath the work location, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
The scissor lift typically has a bigger platform that allows the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, as they must sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being used for window installation or cladding, because they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle used specially for vertical work. Usually, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and controls the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand as well as a winch for carrying and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Boom trucks take workers to heights that would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to raise heavy supplies or equipment from one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types that can perform various purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at various jobs and are suitable for specific applications and completing certain tasks.
