This wonder machine, the lift truck is constructed of numerous components, including the essential carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Engine of the Forklift - At the back of the machinery, the forklift has its power source. The various types of engine on the lift truck will require varying power sources. Like for example, a lift truck with an IC engine can have any of the following as its power source: gasoline, diesel, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.



Truck Frame - the base of the lift truck and the most important of all the lift truck parts is the truck frame. This forms the equipment's core. All other parts of a lift truck are attached to the base, including the counterweight, overhead guard, mast, wheels and axles. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks may be part of the frame assembly as well.



Counterweight Forklift Parts - While carrying heavy cargo, the counterweight allows the machinery to be balanced. This particular part is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery provides balance and can function as part of the counterweight.



The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Lift trucks would sometimes have closed cabs whilst others would be open to the air. There are many components situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important parts like the operator controls, steering wheel, seats, pedals, switches and levers. The dashboard has operator readouts.
