Inventor Jerome Case founded the business of CASE in Racine, when he started the construction of threshing equipment. Later the business gained recognition globally as the first builder of steam engines for its agricultural application. Eventually, the company grew to become the world's largest maker of steam engines.
By 1912, Case had become established within the construction machinery industry. The quickly started to produce road building machines like graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machinery business through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their business by the mid-1990s to become the top maker of light-sized to medium-sized construction machinery.
Case merged with the company New Holland during 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for advertising some of the world's leading brands of construction and agricultural machinery.
