How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when using a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind when attempting to carry out tasks that would have otherwise needed working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this specific equipment make it the right choice for carrying tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries will need to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The equipment has to be positioned near an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place should also be in a well-ventilated area. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button situated near the charger or the control box, in the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Usually, models that are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated area and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger can likely happen.
