Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names including: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of machinery are basically a motorized type of a pallet jack. They come in both "Walkie" models and "Rider" versions.
Like what the name implies, the walkie type is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit as they move loads. The Rider model however, uses a small platform for which the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent moving of loads over extended distances in warehouses and manufacturing applications. They are really fast and maneuverable.
It is not recommended to pick up and transport unstable or tall loads since there are no safety cages on these models. A rider might be the best answer if you are looking for an inexpensive method for transporting cargo from one location to another. If though, you should move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model could be the right alternative.
Order Selector
The order picker or order selector is a piece equipment made specially for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the operator and the load in an effort to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Typically, the order selector is a very narrow aisle vehicle that can work in smaller aisles. They are really useful pieces of equipment during physical inventories as well as during cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more common.
